Burial and Hyperdub mastermind Kode9 collaborated on this mix for Mary Anne Hobbs‘ amazing send off show on BBC Radio 1, which aired earlier this evening. Great mix from Don Leisure on mixcloud. Check it out . . .

Our regular blog readers will be familiar with our compadre Don Leisure, the more laid back incarnation of full firin' drum n bass producer Jamal and one half of the Darkhouse Family (alongside Metabeats / Chesus) whose track 'Stay Blazed' can be found on the new 'Producer 2' compilation on Fat City alongside the likes of Martyn, Dabrye, Daedelus, dBridge and Mike Slott. More Tracks from American Werewolf

I cannot get enough of these guys. Amazing duo out of Seattle. It's not often that you think an opener is better then the closer, but that was certainly the case when they opened for Bassnectar. A friend who had talked to Bassnectar after the show had nothing but awesome things to say about these guys. Heres a few new tracks.

Connie Hawkins

Musical styles brewed in the west side Twin City of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Conrad Robison collides synth-hop, crates of 1980's hits, and a unique background in what has become some form of cracked out hip hop. With an abundant stash of near useless "WORLD" section vinyl, top of the line Casios, and a blurred vision has lead to a hypnotic hyped-up waveform for an ever-evolving set of ears. Joining with long time friend, founding member, and musical mastermind; Tim Heitman, adds a 4th dimension at live sets. Timothy's DnB mastery paired with respect for all things classic hip hop allows for this tickling duo to branch out in any direction. As a healthy scatterbrain, Connie Hawkins finds it hard to keep his hands out of his friends business. Pairing up with fellow mpls raised producer, Larva Ink, has led to a blend of melodic poly-synth work and chopped up beat machining...ala, HI_DEF. Also pairing up with true next level jazz-fusion composer, synth technician, and real dubstepper, Glucose combines IDSM with CaPLEM's tricked out drum work and sampling to form DEGRO. Via his Myspace page.
Here a couple tracks from his soundcloud page. I highly recommend checking him, and whoever he is playing with, out next time he is in your area.

Prepschool - Cadillac EP

Cadillac is the culmination of the last two years spent labbed up developing our own homegrown style of electronic music. It took a lot more than we ever thought it would to finally come out with tracks we feel offer up a new breed of listenable dance music. Classic hardware, the latest softwares, power-production techniques, and lot of time and effort came together to amalgamate elements of Chicago house, funk, electro, disco house, turntablism, hiphop and dubstep to create our own original style which we feel can only be described as Spacefunkdiscohousecrystalkrunkadelic. Welcome to the party, we hope you have fun.
Amazing debut ep from Chicago's Prepschool.Prepschool is a collective of dj's, producers's, and live musicians. We play live as either a live PA set with James Nasset and Dave Najarian, or as a full band with a drummer and keyboard player as well. Both musicians have strong ties to Missoula, having atended the University and creating great hip hop music. These guys know what they're doing, and this album proves it. myspace page. Enjoy the album, stream or download.

ana sia - 'potential influential'

Anyone who describes her own sound as "glitched out, sexed up, low freq, hyphy, bassy, krunked strip-hop" is probably my kind of dj. So i went after Mob Bostress Ana Sia for a mix, and hot damn did she deliver.

After barely over a year behind the decks, Ana is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with. Frequently appearing alongside her boys, California's notorious Glitch Mob, she has recently been dropping the bottom out of such venues as Element NYC, 1015 Folsom, the XenoDrome, Retox Lounge, Supperclub, and various underground spots on and off the playa.

For the memekast, she drops eleven tracks of deep, sexy, bass-heavy glitch-hop and grime, including a spankin' new original track to get things rolling. And when i say deep, i mean deep.

Santiago & Bushido 'Head Trick Remixed EP' Mega Mix

Amidst the countless DJ's and producers working in the burgeoning Chicago house scene, Santiago and Bushido stand apart from the rest with their unique blend of tech-tinged house beats and killer remixes that are becoming quite the sought-after commodity. Since teaming up as a production duo in 2003, Chris Santiago and Tim Bush have dropped numerous EP's and remixes on some of the most well respected labels around including Potty Mouth, Om, Ultra, and have generated a significant following in the process. Their unique sound and flawless DJ sets have helped to establish Santiago & Bushido as one of the premier acts in dance music today.

Their track 'Head Trick' was one of the true dance anthems of 2008, a major crossover success receiving play and charting from many of the globe's top DJ's such as Moby, DJ Tiesto, Switch, Armin Van Buren, and Diplo. Head Trick was the 1 most downloaded song in January 2008, and the 8 most downloaded of the entire year on Beatport.com, the world's top online site for electronic music. Santiago & Bushido followed the success of Head Trick with a number of critically acclaimed releases and remixes including a massive remix of Kaskade's Billboard 1 hit single Move For Me, a reworking of Larry Tee's Louis Vuitton, and their original single Can't Be Wrong which has been licensed to numerous complications such as Ministry of Sound. In addition to belting out club tracks Santiago and Bushido have worked with Om recording artist Colette on her artist album "Push" for which they wrote and produced multiple songs including the album's single, "If," which was licensed for an episode of Real World for "MTV" and can also be purchased as a ring tone from Verizon.

Having been intimately involved with music his entire, life Bushido picked up his first pair of turntables and sampler on his 16th birthday and immediately went to work mixing, sampling, and cutting up any piece of vinyl he could get his hands on. His carefully crafted DJ sets caught the ears of some of Chicago's nightlife elite and he soon found himself playing all over the city. Tim spent his days working at Chicago Recording Company, sharing the same recording space with the likes of R.Kelly and Smashing Pumpkins among others. By working alongside some of Chicago's most well respected engineers at CRC, Bushido honed his engineering and production prowess until opportunity knocked.

While Bushido was mastering his craft, Santiago was working his way up the Chicago's nightlife hierarchy. Within one year of playing live gigs, he secured a Friday night residency at Zentra Nightclub's House Arrest, and within a year he would be playing to Chicago's most musically educated and up-for-it partiers as an exclusive resident at "World's Best Dance Club", Smartbar, joining the halls of dance icons that have enjoyed similar slots there (including other current residents Kaskade and Justin Long).

As DJ's, Santiago & Bushido draw influence from their Chicago house background and apply harder and heavier elements to their sound. Santiago & Bushido are regularly headlining and appearing at some of the best parties in the US and beyond including Avalon in LA, Decibel Festival in Seattle, and Bed in Miami. Recent shows have them playing along side some of the hottest talent around today such as Deadmau5, Crookers, and Kaskade. Their 2009 dates include a multi-city tour in Australia, multiple trips to Europe, and regular gigs in North America.

Jeremiah Jae (AKA Jae R) 'DXNCE'

Another great FREE release; Jae R's 'DXNCE' EP. Brought to you by Flying Lotus's label, Brainfeeder. It's an interesting blend of dub, roots reggae and electronica, creating a sound that cannot be bound by labels.

Alex B. 'Brain Food'

If there is a spare minute in Alex B’s life, it is spent in the studio working on music. His use of a dizzying mixture of analog hardware and newer digital technology give him a signature sound that is difficult to pin down to just one (or two or three) genres. Layers and layers of synthesizer, bass and enticing effects are laid over broken hip-hop and down-tempo inspired beats to create rich textures with a jazz undercurrent.
The lush and dynamic quality of his music is a product of the time and care put into every element. Alex B takes sound design to the level of intricate craftsmanship, where every detail is scrutinized and refined.
This is defiantly my favorite release from Alex B. It was released through Flying Lotus's Brainfeeder label in October 09. The labels roster is looking HOT, and they are defiantly a label to keep your eyes on in '10.

MiM0SA'S FALSE iD0l MiXxx

Mimosa takes listeners on a journey through warm rhythmic sound-scapes, with melodies and vocal samples smoothly crafted to help navigate the sonic terrain. Using basslines inspired by hip-hop classics like Too Short and Dr Dre, combined with deep psychedelic textures reminiscent of the downtempo and midtempo output by Tipper and Bluetech, Mimosa blends the range of styles to create his own fresh take on the west coast sound.

Either my repeat button is broke, or I love this mix.
